Kenny Orts, My Hometown

Kenny Orts, My Hometown

Country music fans always enjoy songs that bring them back to their roots. Kenny Orts' new album, "My Hometown", will definitely do that. The title track tells of how Kenny desires to get back to the good old days when everyone knew everyone in their small town and friendliness was the main objective. The 1980's style country beat and steel guitar makes this song even more enjoyable than it already is. Another song on this album that will bring a lot of country music fans home is, "You're Still On My Mind". Kenny's southern drawl vocals and two step rhythm on this track will please any lover of dancehall style country music. The song, "My Little Man," tells a warming story about a father who loves his son so much he goes as far as to drive all night just to make it to his birthday party. This song is sure to touch your heart and bring a smile to your face. Any artist who can do that, is an example of true talent. The dancehalls may be closed, but if you invite your friends over and play the track, "It's Only Cause You're Lonely," you can have your own line dance party in your home; at least that's what the beat resembles. The final track is super fitting for Texas Pride. "Good Ole Texas Dancehall" is not only a superb self penned composition by Kenny , but the track resembles the Texas music scene at it's finest. This album is sure to please anyone who enjoys wonderful music with creative styles. This recording is free for listening on Spotify and YouTube and you can order your own CD copy at kennyortsmusic.com.

POLKA MUSIC VIDEO

The coronavirus pandemic punched the pause button on live music in Texas and across the world. Fortunately, a lot of polka bands are releasing videos of recent jam sessions, rehearsals and private parties. Some bands are even livestreaming concerts. Here's a listing of links to watch those videos online. We also included some live performances from just before the dances shut down. If you are a subscriber, log into the e-edition to click on the links. We also post videos on the PolkaBeat Facebook page. If you are in a polka band and want to livestream a concert but do not have the means to do so, contact Mark Hermes at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange. TCHCC has the ability to livestream concerts from their amphitheater in La Grange. You can reach Mark Hermes at info@czechtexas.org. If you have a suggestion for videos you think we should include in this listing, send links to andy@texaspolkanews.com. Compiled by Andy Behlen
