Lone Star Brass Band Gains Wide Fame in Five Years

An alarming number of Texas Polka News readers responded recently to the story Gary E. McKee wrote about brass bands. They were all united in the opinion that the Lone Star Brass Band had been left out of a short list of area brass bands. The writer pleads ignorance, that, of which some of you will agree is possible. In order to pacify these fans, the following is a story that was in the June 21, 1960 Fayette County Record on these fine musicians.

Ten area men gainfully employed in various endeavors have seen a common hobby grow into an organization that has made them known to thousands all over South and Central Texas. They’re the members of the Lone Star Brass Band.
