Remembering Arthur Palla

On May 22, 2019, Arthur Palla passed away at the age of 84. I can recall the last time I saw Arthur which was only a few weeks ago at the Henry Machicek Benefit in Granger. Arthur walked over to where my grandfather, Anton Vrazel was sitting and noticed him indulging in a cookie. Arthur jokingly asked my grandfather, "Can I have a bite?" and the two shared a friendly conversation. "What have you been doing lately since you've retired?" asked Anton. "Cutting my grass and taking it easy," Arthur responded.

Mr. Palla lived a long life with friendships, family, and music. However, Arthur's life began in a small Texas town. The year was 1934. Gasoline was 10 cents per gallon. Clark Gable was a box office draw and baseball was the most beloved sport in America. That was also the year Arthur was born to Willie and Mary Palla in Taylor, Texas.
