Michelle Zapletal Slovak: Ennis was Good Too

The city of Ennis hasn't always been the polka hub of Texas. Would you believe that in the 1800's the town was used for Native American battlegrounds?

Through the years the town became more rural. Michelle Zapletal Slovak, clarinet and saxophone player for Czech and Then Some (CATS), recalled her intake on growing up in the town.

"I was born in Houston but moved to Ennis when I started first grade," she said. "I loved Houston while there. Dad played just about every weekend if not every weekend. We lived down the street from my school. Ennis was good too. So we stayed busy."

Michelle recalled her first exposure to playing music.
