Matthew Strmiska: It Felt Like A Big Milestone

Strmiska may not be a common name, but it has plenty of cachet. Matthew Strmiska comes from a legendary musical family and has followed in his family members' footsteps. Whether it's his two grandfathers (Alfred Vrazel and George Strmiska) talents for stage presence or his dad's (Thomas Strmiska) extraordinary percussion skills, the musical legacy rubbed off on Matthew without a hitch.

Matthew Strmiska went from growing up in rural Yarrellton as an altar boy at Marak Church, to being the drummer for the Austinbased band, Black Joe Lewis and The Honeybears; the mantra, "Dreams come true" became living proof in Matthew's life.

Matthew recalled his humble start as a musician. "We lived on my family’s farm land most of my childhood. It was a little bit more of a relaxed way of life than Austin is today." Matthew was exposed to music at an early age. Little did he know, something as simple as watching his father play drums would lead to his successful future.
