Celebrate Tony Booth Day in Pearland

Funny how things work out. About 12 years ago, Tony Booth had a hall in Alvin booked for a show. The hall canceled. Tony’s manager, Lynn Brown, mentioned it to his buddy, Billy Griffin, who happens to own Billy’s Hall in Pearland. They moved the event to Pearland and this year on Sat., May 4, they’ll be celebrating the 12th Annual Tony Booth Day at Billy’s Hall. Just to make it official, in 2012 the Brazoria County judge declared the first Saturday in May Tony Booth Day.

Tony’s hit records include Key's in The Mailbox, Lonesome 7-7203, Cinderella, When A Man Loves A Woman, Carwash Blues, Old Faithful, Happy Hour, Secret Love, and many more. He was a member of Buck Owens' All American Show, was a regular performer on Buck Owens' Ranch Party television show and made numerous appearances on Hee-Haw. He is a four-time award recipient from the Academy of Country Music, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame of Texas in 2009, named male vocalist of the year by the Academy of Western Artists, and recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Country Music Association of Texas. Tony recently released his first gospel CD I Love to Tell the Story, a project he’s been wanting to do for a long time.
