Po.L.K. of A. Texas

Happy Days of Fall! We received much needed rain as well as un-needed mosquitos. But the rain sure was nice for the yards, gardens and fields.

What a specular tribute to Rose Wilshire (Aug. 12 at Taiton Community Center)! If you were not able to attend this was a magnificent tribute to her. She was smiling down from heaven just as pleased as pleased could be. Hats off to all that contributed in some way.

We are making plans for our fundraiser as well as celebrating the Klub’s 30 years! Thirty years is quite an accomplishment. We have come a long way from where the Klub started and continue to go even farther. We are NOT going anywhere and still have much to do. Before you know it, we will be planning the 50th anniversary!

We still have parades coming up and I am sure getting ready for those kolache-eating contests. I am sure glad that I know what they taste like when I truly enjoy them, because when you are in the contest you do not have time to enjoy all the work and love that goes into making them.

There is so much going on with the festivals, county fairs, antique days, scarecrow festival, church picnics, Polish Fest coming up to name a few; so many things to choose from and not even enough days and hours to do it all. I hope that whatever event you choose that you have a great time.

If you are ever out and about and are wondering what we are all about don’t be scared come and join us. We would love to have you.

And as always, we look forward to seeing you down the road, on the dance floor or just having a great time at so many happenings around the area.

Take time to thank our military, police, EMS, and firefighters who put their lives on the line every day for us. On behalf of the Po.L.K. of A. “THANK YOU” for your service.

The Po.L.K. of A. is quite a busy klub, and if you are wondering what we are all about, please come check us out. Everyone is welcome; and if you would like to become a member, you can contact Betty Tidwell/Membership Secretary at bjtidwell@sbcglobal.net, and she will more than happy to send you an application, or if you see anyone in red and white just ask them about becoming a member.

See you on the dance floor or on the float at a parade.
