Po.L.K. of A. Texas

Greetings to everyone. Our January meeting was a great success, thank you to all our members who came. In addition, the music was great with Lost Cause playing. Lots of compliments for the band.

It has been a tough start to the new year, as we lost two past members and two members within days of each other. I normally do not name names of our deceased members, but I would be remiss in not mentioning one of our founding members, Mr. Harold Lawson. Harold and Mary Lou were one of the six founding members and one of the 16 members to start the Po.L.K. of A. in Texas. They have never missed a meeting in all their years of being members. That is amazing. Anyone who knew Harold knew he was a true American thru and thru and just a genuine person. He will be truly missed. May he rest in peace.

I would like to welcome ALL our new members who joined in January. We are truly excited that you chose to be part of our organization and hope that you enjoy dancing as much as we do.

Before we know it, our July meeting will be here. This is our nominating meeting. The meeting will be in Sealy at the American Legion Hall.

Reminder to our members – dues have increased effective Jan. 1, 2020 – singles $15 – couples $30. Notices were sent out to our members.

I would like to wish each one of you a Happy Valentine's Day! May you and the love of your life have a great day!

And as always, we look forward to seeing you down the road, on the dance floor or just having a great time at so many happenings around the area.

Take time to thank our military, police, EMS, and firefighters who put their lives on the line every day for us. On behalf of Po.L.K. of A. “THANK YOU” for your service.

Po.L.K. of A. is quite a busy klub, and if you are wondering what we are all about, please come check us out. Everyone is welcome; and if you would like to become a member, you can contact Betty Tidwell/Membership Secretary at bjtidwell@sbcglobal.net and she will be more than happy to send you an application, or if you see anyone in red and white just ask them about becoming a member.

See you on the dance floor!
