DJ Profile: Dallas Wayne
Dallas Wayne has become well known in country radio and country music. With his song If These Walls Could Cry on the charts and his hosting duties on the Sirius XM station, Willie's Roadhouse, Dallas has quite the interesting life.
TPN: How did you get started in radio?
DW: My first radio show was in college. I would continue off and on (mostly off) between musician gigs over the years. From there, it just grew. I am now heading into my 15th year on Sirius XM radio.
TPN: Do you have a particular fond memory from your DJ days?
DW: Having the honor to sit down and interview my heroes. Also, being able to share their stories. I can remember when Merle Haggard passed, I stayed on the air for 24 hours sharing his songs and stories with fans and friends of the Hag. It was very special.
TPN: What's your favorite part of being a DJ?
DW: I would have to say sharing Classic Country Music with our listeners. Not only the folks who have been fans for a long time, but also those folks who might be discovering the music for the very first time.
TPN: What do like to do in your free time?
DW: Don't have much of it. I am also a full-time touring musician over and above the 40 hours on the air every week. But I enjoy reading a great book. Everything from fiction to biographies to political history and of course, music.
TPN: How does it feel to be a musician and radio DJ?
DW: I have been a touring musician and songwriter for 45 years. It is a big part of me. But so is radio...it's all about trying to entertain folks.
Dallas Wayne can be heard on Willie's Roadhouse on Sirius XM radio channel 59 from Mon-Fri, noon -6 pm.
