On The Road Again

WE JUST CAN’T WAIT TO GET ON THE DANCE FLOOR AGAIN…

Susie and Frank Oborny love to dance. Frank, who hails from Nebraska, is 100% Czech, as all four of his grandparents were Czech, three of whom immigrated from what is now the Czech Republic. As a child, Czech was primarily spoken at home. While in high school Frank danced to Al Grebnick and Ernie Kucera and later, the Omaha Sokol Hall was just down the road from where he attended electronics school. Frank then spent time in the Air Force ending up being stationed in Clovis, New Mexico, and worked construction after the service.

This is where he met Susie, who had come to help out her aunt for a short period of time. Susie was from New Gulf, a unique company town southeast of Wharton. Frank was building a house across the street from her aunt and they noticed each other. Love and marriage soon followed. Her temporary visit has now lasted 47 years, but as Frank says, “She is still 100% TEXAN. When we cross that Texas border, I get the 'Shut the hell up,' and we have to salute the Texas flag as we go by!!!”
