Po.L.K. of A. Texas
The “dog days” of summer are here. It has been pretty quiet on the home front.
We participated in the Moulton and Schulenburg parades; had a blast as we always do. Looking forward to La Grange (Sept. 1), Hallettsville (Sept. 29), and Fayetteville Lickskillet Days (Oct. 21); as I prepare for another kolache-eating contest. At least these I can enjoy as I “prepare.” Thank goodness I know what they taste like. When you are stuffing your face you don’t have time to enjoy them with a big glass of ice cold milk.
We will be discussing our fundraiser at our board meeting and will get the word out as soon as we finalize everything. It will be another good time for all!
Congratulations to our scholarship winners - Marcie Simecek from Moulton High School and Madelyn Okruhlik from Montgomery High School. This fall Marcie will be attending The University of Texas at Austin,
majoring in Business and minoring in fashion merchandising. Madelyn will be attending Texas A&M in College Station majoring in Visualization which entails graphic design, animation, and game design. Congratulations again ladies. We know you will do well in your respective fields.
If you are ever out and about and are wondering what we are all about don’t be scared come and join us. We would love to have you.
And as always, we look forward to seeing you down the road, on the dance floor or just having a great time at so many happenings around the area.
Take time to thank our military, police, EMS, and firefighters who put their lives on the line every day for us. On behalf of the Po.L.K. of A. “THANK YOU” for your service.
The Po.L.K. of A. is quite a busy klub, and if you are wondering what we are all about, please come check us out. Everyone is welcome; and if you would like to become a member, you can contact Betty Tidwell/Membership Secretary at email@example.com, and she will more than happy to send you an application, or if you see anyone in red and white just ask them about becoming a member.
See you on the dance floor or on the float at a parade.
