Po.L.K. of A. Texas

Thank goodness for this rain that we are having. The gardens, lawns, trees, and fields are so happy. Everything has been so dry and hot. Hopefully we will have a calm and quiet hurricane season.

Our July meeting is here on July 8th at the American Legion Hall in Sealy, Texas with Enzian Buam playing for our dancing pleasure. This is also our nominating meeting.

Shiner, Moulton, Flatonia and Schulenberg parades are just around the corner. We really enjoy these and festivals that come with them. St. John’s 4th of July picnic is always a blast - cannot wait for this one. We look forward to seeing friends and making new ones.

If you are ever out and about and are wondering what we are all about don’t be scared; come and join us. We would love to have you. And as always, we look forward to seeing you down the road, on the dance floor or just having a great time at so many happenings around the area.

Take time to thank our military, police, EMS, and firefighters who put their lives on the line every day for us. On behalf of the Po.L.K. of A. “THANK YOU” for your service.

The Po.L.K. of A. is quite a busy klub, and if you are wondering what we are all about, please come check us out. Everyone is welcome; and if you would like to become a member, you can contact Betty Tidwell, Membership Secretary at 281-452-4174 or bjtidwell@sbcglobal.net and she will be more than happy to send you an application. Or if you see anyone in red and white just ask them about becoming a member.

See you on the dance floor or on the float at a parade.

ALFRED VRAZEL SHOW EXTENDED

KMIL 105.1 FM in Cameron recently conducted an online survey asking its listeners what changes (if any) would they like to see to the programming. “More polka music!” is what many said. To give the people what they want, Alfred Vrazel’s Polka Show has been extended 15 minutes and is now heard from 12 noon until 2:30 pm each Sunday.

Alfred’s show has been on the air continuously since 1955, and is now in its 63rd year. It’s believed to be the longest running Sunday Polka Show with the same host in the nation.

Following Alfred’s show, Nonito Martinez comes on the air from 2:30-4:30 pm, making it 4 ½ hours of polka music each Sunday. KMIL has also added a Friday afternoon Polka Show from 1-4 pm with Rose Mondrik as your hostess.

Tune in to 105.1 FM or online: kmil.com. Use the app Simple Radio to connect via your smart phone.
