Po. L.K. of A. Texas

Spring is in the air! Don’t you just love it? Everything is in full bloom - trees, flowers, bluebonnets, and the wild flowers. Everything comes back to life and color. I am sure those who have allergies are not that excited.

All the festivals, cookoffs, church picnics will be in full swing, and deciding on which event to make first then trying to make the rounds to everything that is happening can get overwhelming. But that gives everyone a choice and there is something for everyone. We just need more weekends!

We missed the Columbus parade in February, but Weimar Gedenke is just around the corner on May 12, and we will be in full parade mode. We look forward each year to the parades. They are so much fun, and we enjoy seeing everyone along the parade route.

Our July meeting is also fast approaching, taking place in Sealy at the American Legion Hall on Sunday, the 8th, with the Shiner Hobo Band playing for our dancing pleasure. This will be a great time for sure.

Congratulations to the Red Ravens and the Vrazel Band for their award they received in Hallettsville at the Sausage Fest last month. Both are well deserved, and both are GREAT bands. Congratulations guys! THANK YOU for all the years of great music, and the many miles that each of you have traveled to play for crowds. Keep it up.

Wishing each of you and your families a very blessed and safe Happy Easter to everyone.

If you are ever out and about and are wondering what our klub is all about don’t be scared come and join us. We would love to have you.

And as always, we look forward to seeing you down the road, on the dance floor or just having a great time at so many happenings around the area. Take time to thank our military, police, EMS, and firefighters who put their lives on the line every day for us. On behalf of the Po.L.K. of A. “THANK YOU” for your service.

The Po.L.K. of A. is quite a busy klub, and if you are wondering what we are all about, please come check us out. Everyone is welcome! If you would like to become a member, contact our Membership Secretary Betty Tidwell at bjtidwell@sbcglobal.net or 281-452-4174, and she will be more than happy to send you an application. You can also download an application from our klub page at polkabeat.com. Or if you see anyone in red and white just ask them about becoming a member.

See you on the dance floor or on the float at a parade.
